Port Stephens Plastic Free Water
If you love Port Stephens as much as we do you will want to be part of this initiative!
Plastic Free Port Stephens has teamed up with Bluesky Beverages to create Port Stephens Plastic Free Water. It's Reusable, Recyclable, and looks awesome!
Why we are doing this:
- They are reusable, dishwasher safe, and made from recycled aluminum
- Recyclable in the NSW return & earn deposit scheme
- 70% of aluminum bottles and cans make it to recycling in Australia
- Recycling aluminum requires less energy and reduces the carbon footprint through repeated cycles
- The introduction of aluminum bottles will help to save 40 tonnes of plastic per year in Australia
- The actual bottle options are not only functional for reuse they represent our ‘Incredible by Nature’ coastline and become a part of ongoing branding for our local area
- They give back to the community by supporting PFPS projects
Eco Destination
Our ultimate goal at PFPS is to encourage and support Port Stephens in becoming a certified Eco Destination. While we know this is a huge venture all our projects are based around the criteria of becoming an Eco Destination. We believe that bringing all community organizations, Port Stephens Council and Destination Port Stephens together for the common goal of protecting our greatest and natural assets will not only benefit Port Stephens businesses but also its residents for generations to come. Seabin for Nelson Bay
PFPS is collaborating with d’Albora marina to bring a Seabin to Nelson Bay. Approval has been given by the Marina and funding has been donated by local businessman Greg Wells from Custom Built Projects, and we are currently working out the logistics of getting the bin emptied and maintained with the head office of d’Albora. We are also seeking funding and permission for another Seabin at the opposite end of the Marina.
Terracycle Bin Hub
PFPS is collaborating with Salamander Bay Recycling Centre to bring the Port Stephens community a collection hub for specific items to be recycled. This project is a tangible way for the community to monitor the amount of waste we keep out of landfills and support businesses & individuals in recycling. To learn more, visit Terracycle
Our Terracycle Hub is now available at Salamander Bay Recycling centre! Check out what you can drop off here!
